Genta Sebastian runs with scissors, always laughs without shame, sometimes writes naked, and dreams big.
I started life as a child and against my own advice swiftly attained adulthood. Full grown adulting, however, proved to lie just outside my skill set and beyond my ken. Instead, I’ve enjoyed being an elementary school teacher, crochet artiste, amateur community theater player, master teacher, criminally wicked cookie baker, professional storyteller, Christmas stocking needle-pointer, an okay parent, cool grandparent, and epic great-grandparent. And along the way I also found time to become a published, award-winning author.
Riding the Rainbow, my debut novel, won the 2015 Golden Crown Literary Award for YA Literature and, aptly enough, the 2015 YA Lit Rainbow Award.
My backlist includes sapphic romance, science fiction/fantasy, LGBT YA novels, and lesbian erotica. I’ve entertained audiences of all ages and most proclivities. A traveler by nature, I toured the continental US beguiling folks from all walks of life. My work has been compared to authors John Steinbeck and S.E. Hinton, mostly I think because I love the complexity of people. That’s why my characters express their foolishness and failings, as much as self-reliance and success, giving them a richer breadth and depth.
I’ve been writing full time, but after years and collecting a hundred and fifty rejection letters from mainstream publishers, I began to doubt my ability to write. Wouldn’t you? So I challenged myself: sell at least one short story within a year, or give up writing forever. Melodramatic, perhaps, but I was at an all time low.
I found a site that listed submission calls for erotica, and started scribbling. They say to write what you know, so I jumped into the sapphic writing world. I wrote and sent off ten stories, a year later eight were in print (one anthology accidentally bought two of my stories, so they only published one). I was thrilled.
From 2006 until 2016, I published lesbian erotica using the pen name Aunt Fanny. Once called, “a lesbian with an imagination that burns up the page”, my short stories can be found in many anthologies from a host of publishers, including Bold Strokes Books’ Lambda Award winner, STOLEN MOMENTS, and their EXTREME PASSIONS. My stories also appeared in ULTIMATE LESBIAN EROTICA 2006, and ULTIMATE LESBIAN EROTICA 2007 by Alyson Books, Cleis Press’ BEST LESBIAN ROMANCE 2007, and Bella Books’ WILD NIGHTS: TRUE LESBIAN SEX STORIES, among others.
Nowadays I’m focused on writing Sapphic literature, such as my Troublemaker Series.
Oh wait, you wanted to know my age, weight, and private life? Let me sum it up this way:
I’m a LOL – Little Old Lesbian.
But, of course, you will surely learn more about me by signing up for my newsletter. I usually wax on prolifically, can’t you tell?
